Agentless, server monitoring tool for real-time network, application, and performance monitoring
SiteScope
Key Features of SiteScope
-
Efficient Monitoring with Agentless Technology
Traditional server monitoring tools require agents to be installed on each monitored server. This introduces issues such as:
1. To manage agent versions, perform upgrades and apply configuration changes.
2. Potential impact on server performance or stability due to agent load or defects
SiteScope performs agentless monitoring, eliminating the need to install agents on target servers. This ensures that monitoring does not affect server performance while enabling easier management.
-
Simple Setup and Over 80 Monitoring Capabilities
Because SiteScoope does not require agents, a installation is limited to the SiteScope manager, significantly reducing deployment time.
In addition, a wide range of pre-configured nmnitor templates allow monitoring to begin quickly without extensive setup.SiteScope offers a rich set of monitoring options, including:
- Server monitors: Measure server and OS characteristics
- Network monitors: Check connectivity and test application performance over the network
- URL sequence monitors and Stream monitors
- Database monitors: Performance testing and metrics collection
- Application monitors: Use built-in performance counters of various applications
- Generic monitors: Support diverse environments (log file monitoring, script execution, etc.)
-
Monitoring in Virtualized Environments
SiteScope supports monitoring not only traditional host-based environments but also bare-metal hypervisors such as VMware ESX.
Key points:
- As long as monitoring requirements are met, SiteScope can monitor any platform
- For bare-metal hypervisors, think in terms of the management OS
For example, monitoring Hyper-V is essentially the same as monitoring a Windows server - Overall resource usage is monitored via the management OS, while each guest OS is monitored individually
- For VMware ESX/ESXi, SiteScope uses the management API to obtain and monitor hypervisor-specific performance information
-
Simplified APM for Web Systems
SiteScope’s URL Sequence Monitor allows monitoring of websites from the user’s perspective.
For example, it can simulate a typical e-commerce workflow: accessing a shopping site, adding items to the cart, entering purchaser and credit card information, and existing the site, to verify that the entire scenario functions correctly. By executing regular real-time monitoring, potential issues can be detected and resolved before they result in user complaints.

Deployment Patterns
Deployment Pattern 1: Instance-based Monitoring
SiteScope supports instance-based licensing and monitoring (appliance from versions 11.30 onward).
■OS Instance License:
• Licensed per host.
• One OS Instance license is required for each monitored host
- All monitors except URL^based, Web Script, and SNMP Trap monitors can be configured without limit.
- SNMP Trap Monitors:One OS Instance license is consumed per 10monitors
- VMware Datastore Monitor: One OS Instance license is consumed per monitored datastore
- Vertica JDBC Monitors: One OS Instance license is consumed per monitored Vertica server/node
- Solaris Zone Monitor: consumes One1 OS Instance license per monitored server/zone
