No MX Record Changes Required: A New Approach to Email Security with a Patented Inline API
Conventional gateway-based email security solutions are typically deployed using an MTA-based architecture, which requires changes to the network path and therefore modification of MX records.
Check Point Email Security performs inspections through API integration, eliminating the need to modify MX records. In addition, unlike conventional API-based email security solutions that inspect messages only after they reach the mailbox, its patented Inline API inspects messages before delivery to the mailbox, allowing suspicious emails to be blocked before users can open them.
- Inspect Password-Protected Attachments Even in Environments Where PPAP Measures Remain in Use
While cloud storage and other alternatives are increasingly used as countermeasures against PPAP, many organizations still rely on password-protected files for encryption.
When Check Point Email Security receives a password-protected file, it searches the email body and other content for the password, automatically extracts the file, and then performs a malware scan. If the password cannot be found, the attachment is replaced with a text file indicating that the original file has been removed, and a link is generated so the recipient can retrieve the file.
When the recipient enters the password, the file is inspected. If no issues are detected, the original email is updated with the extracted file in place of the password-protected attachment.
